Approach
At the Centre for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls (CPVAWG), our work is built around the belief that violence is preventable - but only through systemic, sustained, and collaborative action. Our approach is rooted in evidence, shaped by lived experience, and driven by the urgent need to build safer, more just societies.
We focus on four core pillars
-
We produce rigorous, evidence-led research to understand root causes, evaluate interventions, and shape public policy. Our work centres the voices and experiences of women and girls, ensuring that every insight has relevance and impact. We collaborate with academic institutions, grassroots organisations, and policy stakeholders to generate research that informs action.
We don’t need more data for the sake of it - we need data that moves people.
-
We engage directly with policymakers, institutions, and the public to promote policies that prioritise prevention, accountability, and justice. Our advocacy campaigns are grounded in research and designed to shift narratives, challenge harmful norms, and create structural change. We believe prevention must be a political and funding priority.
We don’t just respond to harm - we work to stop it from happening.
-
Through training, resources, and toolkits, we support individuals, organisations, and sectors to build their understanding of violence prevention. From youth education to workplace training to leadership briefings, we create accessible, practical content that empowers communities to act.
Prevention starts with awareness - and awareness must be everywhere.
-
We connect the dots across a fragmented landscape. CPVAWG exists to bring together frontline organisations, researchers, campaigners, and decision-makers into a coordinated ecosystem of prevention. We document and share best practices, support joint funding efforts, and work to amplify the work of others.
Collaboration is not a value - it’s our strategy.
